  • SAMURAI

The Samurai story is one of innovation, excellence and a quest for outstanding design. We pride ourselves on quality in every single stitch and our ethos today is the same as it always has been: Your Sport, Your Garment, Your Colour, Your Fabric, Your Choice.

    A passion for design
The Company was born from a passion for great kits. When our Managing Director Terry Sands set about finding kit for his Samurai International Rugby Sevens teams’ debut at the Amsterdam Sevens back in 1996 nothing he found matched his expectations, so he designed the kit himself and the Samurai Sportswear brand was born.
    Worldwide growth

The Samurai name has grown ever since taking custom made performance teamwear to the next level. Today we produce innovative and unique ideas to create a style completely individual to you and our kits are worn worldwide by clubs, associations, schools, colleges and universities, from grass roots to international level.
    Sporting prowess
The variety of sports has also grown as we lead the way in kit design. From our own factory in China we manufacture high quality teamwear for almost every sport, including rugby shirts, cricket whites, netball dresses, basketball jerseys, football kits and hockey tops, amongst others. The Samurai logo on those garments guarantees the same standards as it always has done – inspirational kits in eye catching and unique designs, with immaculate finishing and styling details worthy of a premium brand.
    Innovation included
We lead the way in product innovation. Having our own factory means that not only can we control the highest levels of product quality in the industry, it allows us to be at the cutting edge of production techniques using the most technically advanced moisture management fabrics available. With built in moisture dissipation, climate regulation and air channelling technologies our kits are built to perform, as well as look good.

  • Dalzells of Markethill

Dalzell's of Markethill were established in 1956 at what is known commonly as The Square in the market town of Markethill in Co. Armagh by the legendary Noel Dalzell and his quick witted wife Evelyn as a household furnisher. Business wasn't easy at first and in the opening week Noel had barely sold a stick of furniture and had taken the sum of 15'6 , the equivalent of 80 Pence in today's money and it seemed likely that the venture would meet an early end. Saturday came and late that afternoon a Mr Richardson and his new wife arrived at the store and purchased furniture and homewares to meet all the needs of their new home in just a few hours.
From these humble beginnings and through ample hard work, keen minds and an innate ability to communicate with customers they laid the foundations for rapid expansion and they were soon moved purchased extensive new premises on Main Street which is still our location today. There they extended their business to agricultural supplies and they growing market that was home appliances. Indeed such was the growth of home appliances that Dalzells were soon the official wholesalers for leading brands like Electrolux and Servis. They even began importing premium appliance brands such as Smeg from Italy to Ireland for the first time as their sole distributor.

The generations in the business have changed today with Trevor, Noel and Evelyn's son at the helm but the solid traditions of good retail practices that has helped build the business and which were also part of its original logo are as strong now as they were then - Quality | Value | Service

  • SONI LTD

SONI is responsible for the safe, secure, efficient and reliable operation of the high voltage electricity system in Northern Ireland.

Established in 2000, SONI Ltd. was purchased by EirGrid PLC in March 2009 and now operates as part of the EirGrid Group.

SONI is the licensed independent electricity Transmission System Operator (TSO) and, in conjunction with EirGrid is the Market Operator (MO) of the Single Electricity Market (SEM).

SONI TSO is regulated by the Utility Regulator Northern Ireland (UREGNI) while SEMO, the Single Electricity Market Operator, is regulated by the SEM Committee.

SONI works in cooperation with asset owner NIE to develop the grid infrastructure. This is needed to support competition in energy, to promote economic growth and to facilitate renewable energy.

The Department for Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI) grant SONI a licence to participate in the transmission of electricity (TSO Licence) with the Northern Ireland Utility Regulator (UReg) having the statutory powers to ensure licence compliance.

Like EirGrid, SONI is authorised to conduct its Single Electricity Market (SEM) business on an all-island basis through its licence in Northern Ireland and a corresponding licence exemption in ROI. The Single Electricity Market Operator (SEMO) is an unincorporated contractual joint venture between SONI and EirGrid to discharge the single electricity market obligations across the island.

SONI’s operation of the transmission system remains the key focus. Optimising the economic operation of the transmission system in real time is increasingly complex and the ever increasing penetration of wind generation in particular, sets significant technical challenges to find appropriate solutions which are both cost effective and reliable.

At a European level, SONI's strategic goal remains to inform policy development in Northern Ireland, GB and Europe and the European 3rd Energy Directive has called for the establishment of both a pan European association of TSOs and Regulatory Authorities.

Based at Castlereagh House Control Centre (CHCC) in Belfast, the company currently employs around 110 staff.

Registered Office: SONI LTD. 12 Manse Road, Belfast, Co. Antrim BT6 9RT.
