Billy Davidson (MIn) (1937- 2018)

City of Armagh Rugby Football Club is sad to learn of the passing of Billy Davidson (Min) and we would like to pass our deepest sympathies to Billy’s Family Circle.

Min was a true gentleman and a great servant of the club for many years in fact most of Billys life

Billy’s first involvement in City of Armagh rugby club was when he was a child. Billy’s father would bring Billy to the mall in those days to help mark the lines in the pitches. In those days there was no white paint used for the lines you had to do it the old fashioned way with a spade and cut a grass sod and turn it over to make a line.
From those early day’s Billy got involved with rugby from playing with many generations over the decades and looking after the grounds at the club.
Billy also enjoyed running ,as well, he ran the Dublin Marathon and was one of the many members who ran from Ravenhill to Landsdowne Road to raise money to build the Club house at the Palace Ground in the 1970s.

Billy was very much a hands on person and thought nothing of scaling the floodlight posts to voicing his opinion on anything to do with rugby.
Billy was past President of our club from 1987-89 and again in 1995-96.
Also Winner of IRFU Dorrington B Faulkner Award 2009

There is so much you could say about Billy he lived a full life mixing rugby with great love for his family

Billy had a true passion for our club and rugby as a game and was respected by all generations in the club.

Rest in Peace

Funeral 1pm Saturday 15th September at St Marks Church of Ireland Armagh
