First Trust Senior Cup Final Preview

19 Dec 2017 by City of Armagh Rugby Club

On Tuesday 19th December the First Trust Senior Cup final between City of Armagh RFC and Ballymena RFC will take place at Kingspan Stadium (kick-off 7.30pm).

For the first time in four years there will be a new name on the cup, as Ballymena saw off Ballynahinch, champions of the last three years, in the semi finals. Ballymena joined the competition at the quarter-final stage, where they accounted for Omagh, and will now be on the hunt for their first Senior Cup success since 2012/13. For City of Armagh, this will be their first ever appearance in a Senior Cup final. The Armagh men also received a bye straight into the quarter-finals, where they edged out Banbridge before an impressive semi-final win over Malone. It has been a memorable year for Armagh who also won the SONI Premiership for the first time last season. The club’s 2nd XV will also contest the Millar McCall Wylie Junior Cup final at Kingspan Stadium on Thursday night, versus Ballynahinch 2nd XV. TEAMS
