Armagh3 v Omagh Match Report 22-09-2018

24 Sep 2018 by City of Armagh Rugby Club

It was back to “business as usual” for City of Armagh III’s at the Palace Grounds when Omagh Town III’s were the visitors. Referee Shane Toolan blew the match up half way through the second half with Armagh winning 65-7. There were men of the match performances from Jack Traynor and Conleth Oliver but it was a team effort under the direction of Andrew Winder that secured the victory with eleven tries to Omagh’s one.

Although this was their first outing of the season, Armagh were dominant in the line outs and open play and did not really give Omagh a chance to run the ball. A weight advantage gave Omagh the edge in the scrums but they were generally unable to capitalise.
The Armagh tries came from Johnny Clarke, Adam Magowan, Conleth Oliver 2, Trevor Girvan, Sam Shepherd 3, James Morton, Matthew Allen and Gareth Megaw, with Andrew Knipe converting 3 and one each for Matthew Rogers and Matthew Steenson.
Next Saturday is another home fixture when the opposition will be Malone III’s, in Provincial League 2.
